The area was first made famous by Queen Victoria and her family during the Victorian era and continues to be enjoyed today by Queen Elizabeth and all her family – you could say it has definitely been giving the Royal seal of approval. Follow the Victorian Heritage Trail which takes in many places with Royal connections, including the area that inspired the famous film “Mrs Brown”.  The area is steeped in centuries of history, making it a popular destination with those interested in tracing their roots or visiting fairytale castles from a bygone era.

The River Dee flows from its source at the Linn of Dee high in the Cairngorm mountains, passing through 85 miles of stunning scenery filled with rare and exotic wildlife and plant species, reaching the sea at the city of Aberdeen.
