Arts and Culture in Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms, Scotland

Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms boasts a very active artistic & creative community , past & present, much of whose work has been strongly influenced by the landscapes and people they work amongst. Almost every town and village has some form of gallery or exhibition space, showcasing local arts, photographers and crafts. You will come across artists and craft workers in some of the most remote corners of our area. Artists Joseph Farquharson, Howard Butterworth, Bill Foreman and Eric Auld are some of the areas acclaimed artists of the landscape. Equally over years the area has a strong & well recognised music background from the likes of the famous Banchory fiddler & composer James Scott Skinner (1843- 1927) to modern times composers and song artists Paul Anderson, Pandy Arthur, Annie Lennox and Emeli Sande.
